SEEP to host its annual Mid-year Meetings in Washington

Microfinance Focus, May 24, 2010: SEEP Network Financial Services Group will be hosting its Annual Mid-year Meetings in Washington, D.C. from 2-5th June, 2010. The Small Enterprise Education and Promotion (SEEP) Network is the largest association of microfinance and enterprise development organizations worldwide. The objectives of the meetings are to review FSWG activities, update attendees on current activities with the public reporting period of the MFI Reporting Standards Initiative, make their involvement in same painless, and plan activities to increase ‘uptake’ of the standards after final adoption.

SEEP gathers the experience of practitioners in an inclusive, neutral space for sharing and developing knowledge, and disseminates this knowledge broadly to advance microenterprise practice.  SEEP itself aspires to learn from its own and others’ experience to provide the best services possible. During the four days of meetings agendas like, getting started and FSWG stuff, MFI Reporting Standards Initiative Public Comment Period and Long-Range Planning / Uptake will be discussed.

Issues like identifying channels for engaging stakeholders, creation of innovative conference, panel and educational products and broad based marketing and media efforts, will be taken up in the meetings. Strategies of putting products in interesting packages, reaching out to more number of people and setting financial reporting standards will be some of the topics for discussion.
