ACCION implements Dialogue on Business program in India

Microfinance Focus, Dec. 16, 2009: ACCION has announced that it has successfully implemented the Dialogue on Business program in India, in association with Bangalore-based microfinance institution Grameen Koota.
The program with a special focus on marginalized women, had nine training modules covering topics such as self-management for women, leadership, cash management, communication and promotion, and entrepreneurship. Dialogue on Business has so far trained 500 entrepreneurial low-income women through Grameen Koota, and plans to train another 1,000 microentrepreneurs through another organization, Swayam Shikshan Prayog. Similar business and finance training has been provided to the entrepreneurial poor in Latin America, said a statement from ACCION.

ACCION International is a private, nonprofit organization giving people the financial tools they need – microloans, business training and other financial services – to work their way out of poverty. A pioneer in microfinance, ACCION issued its first microloan in 1973 in Brazil. Today, ACCION’s partner microfinance institutions serve more than 3.7 million poor entrepreneurs per year in 23 countries in Latin America, Asia, Africa and the United States.
