A Microfinance CIO and his latest IT feat: SKS or Swayam Krishi Sangam is an organization that offers microloans and insurance to poor women in impoverished areas of India.  As one of the fastest growing microfinance institutions in the world and claimed to be the largest in the country, the organization makes sure it stays ahead of the technology curve too. To name a few, it is one of the first MFIs in the world to have a fully-automated MIS, has pioneered the use of MPLS technology at the regional level and is currently working with Sify and Reliance on a pilot project to develop and deploy wireless devices that would enhance the connectivity pan-India and significantly reduce transaction costs [CIOL] Study on PWDs’ access to finance due: A SURVEY to find out how easy it is for people with disabilities (PWDs) to access micro-finance services is to be conducted, writes Aidah Nanyonjo. The Association of Microfinance Institutions of Uganda (AMFIU) and the Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU) will carry out the study.  It also aims at establishing the level and the kind of financial services persons with disabilities get. Ways to improve PWDs access to micro-finance services in the selected districts will also be devised. “The overall objective of the project is to increase access to sustainable micro-finance services for persons with disabilities,” [New Vision]
