‘Convergences 2015′ conference to discuss structuring microfinance for the next decade

Microfinance Focus, April 07, 2010: Bringing together a new convergence between private, public and non-profit sectors, Convergence 2015 conference will be held on May 25th and 26th, 2010 in Paris city hall said a recent release. Organized by ACTED (Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development), Agence Française de Développement (AFD), Crédit Coopératif and Le Monde, the conference contributes to the Eight Millenium Development Goals of establishing a sustainable form of development for reducing extreme poverty in the world.

The 2010 edition will be gathering 800 experts from fields of business, social business, international development, civil society and public sectors to discuss the issues of structuring and financing social business for the next dacade, creating long term value to low-income clients by employing the basics microfinance, developing a road-map for taking forward microfinance in Africa and developing microcredit in France for social reintegration and business creation.

Launched in 2008, Convergences 2015 has become an essential European meeting point for all development actors. Initially focused on microfinance, its scope was enlarged to the field of social business, to include a wide range of solutions for the reduction of extreme poverty.
