‘University Meets Microfinance’ turns India-specific

Microfinance Focus, Nov.24, 2009: The latest ‘University Meets Microfinance’ Workshop has a mix of presentations from advanced econometric methods to online lending models operating in India.
The workshop on “Microfinance Challenges in India” took place on November 6, 2009 in Berlin. Hosted by Allianz SE place, it was organized on the occasion of the Vision Summit with Microfinance pioneer Muhammad Yunus in Berlin.

The presentations were made by Anna Somos Krishnan on “PlaNet Finance India: The Indian microfinance market”; Thilo Klein, University of Cambridge, on “Can advanced econometric methods improve the credit risk assessments in groups of borrowers?  Case study India,”; Arvind Ashta on “ESC Dijon: Online lending in India”; Carolina Laureti, Université Libre de Bruxelles, on “The role of savings in competitive microfinance markets, Case study India”; Anand Srivastava, Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, on “Microfinance and  MDGs: Credit Plus and Credit Only approach comparison, Case study India” and Natalia Realpe Carillo, Technische Universität Berlin, on “Family and Group Ties in Microfinance Activities: Framed field experiments in Mexico (research proposal).
