Microfinance Focus, Nov. 18, 2009: The UNDP is organizing a National Conference on the Status of Microinsurance in India, in collaboration with the Centre for Insurance and Risk Management (CIRM) and Centre for Micro Finance (CMF) at the Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR). The conference will be held in New Delhi on Dec. 10 and 11, 2009.
The conference will assess the status of microinsurance in India, especially in poorer states where the population is more vulnerable to natural disasters and other shocks, said the statement.
The Centre for Insurance and Risk Management and the Centre for Micro Finance are two of six autonomous research centres at the Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR). CIRM engages in designing
risk management solutions for poor households, while CMF primarily works with microfinance institutions to evaluate the impact of their products and services.
