ACDI/VOCA crosses $1 billion in loans disbursed

Microfinance Focus, Nov. 18, 2009: ACDI/VOCA, a non-profit organization providing microfinance and SME loans, has disbursed over $1 billion in loans, more than 625,000 to small-scale farmers and entrepreneurs in developing countries, said release on Tuesday. Forty percent of these clients are women, according to the statement.
ACDI/VOCA has partnered with over 20 financial insitutions that assist in expansion of small-scale farms and enterprises. Combined, they have served over 100,000 clients and represent a combined portfolio of $200 million, according to Fred Smith, Senior Managing Director, Financial Services, ACDI/VOCA.
Established in 1963, ACDI/VOCA is a private, non-profit international development organization that provides funding to micro, small- and medium-sized enterprises across Asia, Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe.
