Microfinance Focus, Nov. 11, 2009: The Asia Microfinance Forum 2010 will address the issues vital to Asia’s microfinance industry as it emerges from the current economic crisis, including regulation, financing, investment readiness, transparency, consumer protection, and MFI transformation, according to the official website release.
Asia Microfinance Forum 2010 will take place October 12-15, 2010 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Conference will be organized by The Banking With the Poor Network (BWTP) and The Foundation for Development Cooperation (FDC), with funding support from Citi Foundation.
The global financial crisis has introduced additional uncertainties for Asia’s microfinance industry. The implications of the changes to the world’s economic circumstances and infrastructure will take some time to fully flow through to the microfinance sector.
This event will bring together leading microfinance practitioners, policymakers, financiers, academics and advocates from around the world to outline their visions and priorities, and explore new ideas, opportunities and partnerships.
The BWTP Network actively promotes the development of microfinance in Asia through research, advocacy, policy dialogue, information sharing and capacity building. The Asia Microfinance Forum 2010 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, will build upon the success of the previous Asia Microfinance Forums (Beijing, 2006 and Hanoi, 2008) and aims to help prepare the microfinance industry in Asia for a wide range of future challenges and opportunities.
