Muhammad Yunus meets Secretary Clinton

Microfinance Focus, August 17, 2011: Microfinance Pioneer and Nobel Laureate, Professor Muhammad Yunus who was in Washington last week to address a convention of US and international NGOs, met Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton at her office in the State Department.

Prof. Yunus discussed a broad range of issues relating to microcredit and social business as tools to fight poverty, and other issues relating to women and global justice with Hillary Clinton.

Professor Yunus invited Secretary Clinton to attend the Global Social Business Summit to be held in Vienna, Austria which will take place on 10-12 November this year, as well as the Global Microcredit Summit in Valladolid, Spain from 14-17 November.

InterAction, an umbrella organization of more than 180 US NGOs organized a convention of US and international NGOs that was attended by thousands of professionals from the international NGO, government, business and philanthropic sectors.
