Microfinance rating agency M-CRIL appoints new CEO

Microfinance Focus April 2, 2011: The Board of Directors of Micro-Credit Ratings International Limited, M-CRIL recently appointed Dr Alok Misra as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of M-CRIL, from the first of April, 2011.
Dr Misra has a PhD in Development Studies from the University of Wellington in New Zealand and a Master’s in Development Management from the Asian Institute of Management, Manila in addition to over 15 years of experience at NABARD in diverse areas of rural finance.
He was also part of the team which established the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) of India in 2003-04. Dr Misra’s extensive experience in development programmes, knowledge of microfinance and Self Help Groups has already enabled him to make a highly valuable contribution to M-CRIL’s operations for nearly three years.
Speaking on Dr Misra’s appointment, Professor Malcolm Harper, Chairman of M-CRIL said, “M-CRIL is already regarded as the world leader in microfinance ratings thanks in part to Dr Misra’s recent work with us in India, South-East Asia and elsewhere, and I am confident that this position will be maintained and extended to other areas under his leadership”.
M-CRIL provides financial rating of microfinance institutions and in sectoral advisory services. M-CRIL conducts thorough due diligence based on credible rating and assessment methodologies which conform to global standards.
