Microfinance Focus, January 19, 2012: Sweety Majumdar (right in photo), a resident of Kolkata, received a loan of Rs 12,000 (USD 250) from a Microfinance Institution (MFI). She used this loan to purchase a sewing machine and was able to open a garment stitching unit. Through Sweety’s hard work and dedication, her business flourished. Today, her unit employs ten people. Since she was approved for a microloan three years ago, Sweety’s life has changed for the better. "I have new dreams and don't want to stop here. I want to make a bigger unit," she said.
