Incofin launches relief action for Horn of Africa

Microfinance Focus, August 23, 2011: Social investor and rural microfinance specialist Incofin has launched a relief action program with French NGO ACTED in the Horn of Africa which is being affected by severe drought. More than 12 million people in Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia are suffering from famine.

Since the start of the food crisis, ACTED has been gathering its resources to help out people in North Eastern Kenya and South Somalia living in regions that are not being served by other NGOs. Food distribution and access to water and sanitation are currently its main priorities.

Through its microfinance network OXUS, ACTED and Incofin IM have been working together since several years. ACTED has been operating in the region since 5 years focusing on catastrophe prevention and providing access to drinking water, mainly in desolated areas.

Donations to the Incofin IM relief program can be made with the King Baudouin Foundation
