Incofin’s microfinance funds give fresh loans in Colombia, Angola

Microfinance Focus, May 14, 2011: Belgian microfinance investor Incofin has recently lent EUR 2.2 million to Contactar in Colombia, a company offering microfinancing along with a range of non-financial services such as consultancy and technical assistance to micro entrepreneurs. The loan was extended through Incofin’s Rural Impulse Fund II.
Contractar which is a member of Emprender, the Colombian association of MFIs, currently serves about 32,000 clients, of which 80% live and operate in rural areas. It has more than 50% of its portfolio in agriculture and livestock.
Another of Incofin’s fund Rural Impulse Fund has provided a USD 1 million loan to microfinance institution KixiCrédito in Angola. The loan will be utilized to expand KixiCredito’s presence in secondary cities of Angola.
KixiCrédito was founded in 1999 to provide access to capital for was displaced people. Most of the MFI's 12 offices are located in the suburbs of Luanda, the capital, and Huambo, the second city and the most affected place during the war.
Rural Investment Fund I & II are Incofin’s quasi commercial funds for investments in loan and equity for rural microfinance institutions in Developing countries with a minimum of 25% in ACP countries (principal Sub-Sahara Africa)
