7th International Microinsurance Conference to encourage economic analysis of microinsurance markets

Microfinance Focus, August 6, 2011: The Munich Re Foundation and the Microinsurance Network will be hosting the 7th International Microinsurance Conference from 8 to 10 November 2011 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Together with the Center for the Economic Analysis of Risk, the International Microinsurance Conference will have a scientific track to encourage rigorous economic analysis of microinsurance markets.

This conference is supported by CnSeg, SUSEP, FIDES, IDB, GIZ/BMZ and Georgia State University’s Center for the Economic Analysis of Risk (CEAR). It is expected to gather around 500 participants and experts from around the world including representatives from insurance and reinsurance companies, international organisations, NGOs, development-aid agencies, academics, policymakers, regulators and supervisors.

Other conference themes include ‘National and regional strategies to develop microinsurance’, ‘Distribution and demand’, ‘Technology to achieve scale and efficiency’ and ‘Protecting the poor against natural disasters’.
